The Fantastic Four

Although Jens S (a super reviewer on rottentomatoes.com) said the Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, and Fantasy movie is “rather dark, without charm or humour and totally ruins one of the greatest villains of Marvel comics”, I think, Josh Trank did a great job at directing a movie that saw four young outsiders who were transported to an alternate universe, gain superhuman powers as they alter their physical forms in shocking ways. Reed Richards becomes Mr Fantastic, able to stretch and twist his body at will, while pal Ben Grimm gains immense strength as the Thing. Johnny Storm becomes the Human Torch, able to control and project fire, while his sister Sue becomes the Invisible Woman. And together, the team must harness their new abilities to prevent Doctor Doom from destroying the Earth. Now, this is the truer meaning of Fantastic! or perhaps fantastical (yeah! it’s a word).

While I will not be discussing the movie written by Jeremy Slater, Simon Kinberg and Josh Trank, I want to take you on a jaunt; a short journey that will briefly explore the dynamics of the best four companies (in my opinion); mostly comparative and eventually make a bust stop at one — The ONE that has most inspired me.

The Pioneers and Doers

But dreams don’t work unless you take action and 59 years later, Google, Amazon, Microsoft and Apple amongst others, have been successful and directly responsible for putting a supercomputer in our pockets. Dreams do come true after all!

Unlike business Professor Scott Robert Galloway (Alexa will say otherwise), I don’t intend to deconstruct the strategies of these Four that lurk beneath their shiny veneers, or maybe show how they manipulate the fundamental emotional needs that have driven us since our ancestors lived in caves, at a speed and scope others can’t match.

Rather, as I mentioned earlier, I will depict how four technology giants inspired more joy, connections, prosperity, and discovery than any entity in history and then unveil the one I have predominantly been inspired by; because openly, Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon, have created hundreds of thousands of high-paying jobs. So let’s stay on the positives!

The Search Box

Who would have believed that a single-line text box or search icon with a dedicated function of accepting user input to be searched for in a database will nudge Jimmy Wales to coin the phrase: If it isn’t on Google, it doesn’t exist? Like his Wikipedia platform, he believes Google has concocted a world in which every single person on the planet is given free access to the sum of all human knowledge.

Candidly, It is hard to imagine a world without Google. Thanks to Google’s search engine, we can know more than ever before, and most information we need is easy to access online. Of course, Google is neither the first nor the only online search engine available for us to use, but it is one of the best and by far the most popular. With Accurate and relevant information available to us at the click of a button, Google’s search engine has made information and learning much more accessible. What used to be reserved for those privileged enough to have academic work available is now available to everyone. When used properly, a search engine like Google’s makes gaining knowledge and spreading knowledge simple and easy. All one needs is a device capable of accessing the internet, and with smart technology more readily available, almost everyone can use Google. Okay… Enough about Google!! Ask Google to tell you more about itself.

Cadabra

“Order at Cadabra Prime”!! could have been a 21st-century Ad for a company that was originally called “Cadabra,” as in “abracadabra,” if CEO Jeff Bezos’ lawyer didn’t forewarn him that the reference to magic was too obscure. Well… ideas do not come out fully developed after all.

It appears “abracadabra” ultimately because Amazon as we know it turns out to be the most reputable.

It’s Earth’s biggest store!

An Amazon Brand Store allows merchants to set up an online storefront for their brands for free. In just a few clicks, sellers can level up their customers’ experience by experimenting with custom layouts and pre-made templates.

As the online retailer of choice for most Americans, and increasingly, the world, Amazon eases the pain of drudgery — getting the stuff you need to survive.

Brad Stone tells the story of how a hedge fund analyst named Jeff Bezos drove cross-country from New York to Seattle with his wife and formulated his business plan for Amazon while on the road. In short, Amazon’s core assets are its operational capabilities, engineers, and brand. The firm is like music; just a series of altered patterns where the musician creates the pattern, makes us anticipate a resolution… then holds back. It makes you wait for it. Amazon creates a pattern in everything and everyone.

Eve’s bite

Whether its name was derived from Nymphus gaining immortality by eating a golden apple or because Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak wanted the Apple brand name to appear before Atari in phone books, The Apple logo, which graces the most coveted laptops and mobile devices, is the global badge of wealth, education, and Western values.

Apple is one of the leading branding companies in the world and its brand is the key to the company’s success. It’s got nothing to do with products like the iMac or iPod.

Unlike Amazon, Apple is about imagination, design and innovation, It goes beyond commerce. The company projects a humanistic corporate culture and a strong corporate ethic, characterized by volunteerism, support of good causes or involvement in the community. Its founding ethos was power to the people through technology, and it remains committed to computers in education.

The company has a unique visual and verbal vocabulary, expressed in product design and advertising. Its products and advertising are clearly recognizable.

There is a fairly good chance that you are reading this article either on an Apple device or with one near you. Maybe you are doing it on a MacBook Air while listening to an iPod touch and occasionally glancing at the newest Apple Watch for alerts from your iPhone. The reason behind that — and behind Apple’s success — is that its devices are beautiful to look at and a pleasure to use.

The One (Microsoft And Why it Inspires Me)

In its early history, Microsoft’s mission was about the PC on every desk and home, a goal it has mostly achieved in the developed world. Today it is focused on a broader range of devices.

Distinct from the other three, Microsoft is the only one that can harness the power of software and deliver it through devices and services that truly empower every individual and every organisation. It is the only company with a history and continued focus on building platforms and ecosystems that create broad opportunities.

However, I am mostly inspired by its Intriguing and functional company culture which have consequently facilitated the growth of the company. Precisely, the adoption of a growth mindset in its work culture seems to be taking it to greater heights.

Formed by Harvard College dropout, Bill Gates and his childhood friend Paul Allen, Microsoft has now become the biggest software company. It is also one of the most valuable companies in the world.

The company’s idea is that Human beings have an immeasurable desire to discover, invent, and build and its future depends on us furthering these ideals.

My Experience with Microsoft Employees on Twitter and how their company culture proves to be different

Employees at Microsoft live with the ideology that the source of innovation is empathy, and not endless training and meetings. In fact, I think most of them join Microsoft — to change the world through technology that empowers people to do amazing things. I know it can sound hyperbolic — and yet it’s true. They have done it, They’re doing it today, and they are the team that will do it again.

At Microsoft, their primary concern is not how to create new products, but how empathy can create an innovative mind. Employees are encouraged to take up real-life lessons that help them see things from the perspective of others.

They strongly believe that the ability to empathize sparks the innovation that helps employees create products and services that meet the unmet and unarticulated needs of customers.

Conclusion

believe over the next decade computing will become even more ubiquitous and intelligence will become ambient. The coevolution of software and new hardware form factors will intermediate and digitise — many of the things we do and experience in business, life and our world. This will be made possible by an ever-growing network of connected devices, incredible computing capacity from the cloud, insights from big data, and intelligence from machine learning.

It will better connect us to our friends and families and help us see, express, and share our world in ways never before possible. It will enable businesses to engage customers in more meaningful ways.

As we look forward, we must zero in on what Microsoft can uniquely contribute to the world.

Many companies aspire to change the world. But very few have all the elements required: talent, resources, and perseverance. Microsoft has proven that it has all three in abundance.

Finally, as Martin Luther King once said, No work is insignificant. All labour that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence. I truly suppose that each of us must find meaning in our work.
